The Guild

Help! Save me, Marvelous Man!

Stan Lee’s World of Heroes YouTube channel just got significantly better because I’m in one of the videos! I was thrilled to get to work with director Sean Becker and writer/actor Jeff Lewis again, this time for Episode 6 of Chatroom of Solitude. The episode stars Colin Ferguson (Eureka) as Marvelous Man, Annie Sertich (The Groundlings, correspondent for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno) as Sheila Marvelous, Vince Caso (The Guild) as Josh Marvelous, and Laura Ortiz (Holliston) as Tabitha Marvelous. Jeff Lewis (The Guild, The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour) also shows up as Dirty Math Teacher.

It was a lot of fun to be a part of this. Colin really went above and beyond for our scene, as did the excellent crew. You’ll see me in one more episode, so go subscribe!

Chris Ellis guides Meathands into our own Fresh Hell

Many thanks to all who came out to our Tag Team show this past Saturday! We had a great night mashing stand-up comics and improv comedy into one big show, and judging by the laughs, you seemed to like it too!

Last month, we sadly said goodbye to our director Bill Johnson but that doesn’t mean the end of the Magic Meathands striving to get better and better. We’re now pulling from a number of experienced improvisers to serve as temporary coaches during our rehearsals.

Our first is Chris Ellis, a longtime member of the The Trans4merz, an improv group playing regularly at Fanatic Salon and originally directed by improvisation innovator Stan Wells. He is also co-creator/director of the hit web-series Fresh Hell, the comedy/tragedy starring Brent Spiner as himself in a world where a mysterious incident has destroyed his career. As you might expect, guest appearances and cameos abound, among them Star Trek: The Next Generation co-star LeVar Burton and The Guild‘s Jeff Lewis and Sandheep Parikh. The series was created with Spiner and writer/fellow Trans4merz Harry Hannigan (According to Jim). Meathands alum Heather Brumley can be seen in the opening credits of each Season 1 episode, and cameos as a Trekkie Nerd in Season 2, now playing on YouTube.

Oh and Chris Ellis is also British. So if you notice an inordinate amount of terrible British accents in our shows, now you know why.

Here’s a Fresh Hell promo:

The above was cross-posted on the Magic Meathands blog. I’ve been a member of the Magic Meathands for over 3 years, performing over 150 shows of improvised comedy. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, give yourself a treat and catch one of our shows.

The Slap and Tickle Holiday Show reunites Jeff Lewis and Corey Blake

Yes it’s the comedic pairing that has swept YouTube away in absolute unbridled hilarity! First seen together in the season finale of The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour, Jeff Lewis (Vork from The Guild) and Corey Blake will reunite again this Wednesday and Thursday night for the Slap and Tickle Holiday Show at the Lillian Theatre.

Viewers have been so overwhelmed by the palpable and uproarious on-camera chemistry of Jeff Lewis and Corey Blake that they actively seek out less prominent parts of the episode in an effort to contain themselves. Comments such as “Jerry Lambert + Jeff Lewis= Epic” and “Alex Albrecht is da bomb!” and “What an awesome cast, Clara from the Guild, the guy who plays Kevin Butler for Sony, and Alex Albrecht from TRS” and “Was that burnie burns? AKA church from rvb?” are akin to looking away from the sun, which is so bright and amazing and hilarious that you have to look elsewhere or go blind.

Audiences are expected to go blind from awesome hilariousness this Wednesday and Thursday at the Slap and Tickle Holiday Show, which will present a night of sketches, one-acts and other forms of entertainment attempting to distract from the wonder that will be Jeff Lewis and Corey Blake teaming up once again for an equally memorable night of extensive interaction and lengthy dialogue exchanges.

The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour season 1 finale: Office

Look for me in the big season 1 finale of The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour! Warning: there is adult language, so Internet Mom says viewer discretion is advised.

Written by and starring Jeff Lewis (Vork from The Guild) and directed by Sean Becker of Awkward Films. Me as the Intern. Also starring Alex Albrecht (of Diggnation), Jerry Lambert (ABC’s Sons & Daughters, Kevin Butler from Sony’s PlayStation 3 ad campaign), Ed Marques, Ted Michaels (Puppet Up!), Tara Perry (The Movie Maven) and Robin Thorsen (Clara on The Guild).

This was such fun to shoot. There’s a longer take of me fumbling around with the water for what seemed like 5 minutes. If they used it, they would’ve had to change the title of the show. Check out the rest of the season, the show is hilarious. Make sure to post lots of comments about how amazing I am but don’t make it too obvious. Just play it cool. And definitely don’t mention that I told you to do that. Then it would be really awkward.
