Mary Benedict

Honest Abe the Babe

Magic Meathands Original video #13!

It’s another sketch comedy video for your entertainment enjoyment!

This one is a preview of a brand new historical TV series that will blow you away with its textbook accuracy while still being entertaining and yes, even sexy! I did the voice over and I also had a scene as General Robert E. Lee that will have historians talking for decades. Also featured in this video is Shane Boroomand, Mary Benedict (also the writer and director), Kathie Bostian and Nikki Turner.

History was never this historical!

Fun and Games II: The Red Tokens

Magic Meathands Original video #12!

The popular Gamer characters are back for the expanded version of that world-famous board game Calcatron! If you’ve ever played a game with someone that takes it a tad too seriously, you’ll probably relate. But to be fair, the red tokens are a pretty intuitive add-on once you’ve used prime numbers to determine who goes first.

Also, I friggin’ love the screen capture YouTube selected for this one.

Mary Benedict wrote and directed this one, and also played the part of Mary. I play Corey, Nikki Turner played Nikki and Kathie Bostian played Kathie. Pretty tricky character names, huh? Shane Boroomand was the cameraman and editor. Nick DeBenedetto handled sound.

To see Mary’s first attempt at playing a board game with us, check out this video.

Pheel Good

Magic Meathands Original video #8!

Written and directed by Mary Benedict. Me as one of the spokespersons for a new amazing pharmaceutical product with… some side effects. Also starring Mary, Kathie Bostian, Kevin Callahan, Shane Boroomand, Nikki Turner, and Seth Rotkin as Choking Guy.

I don’t know about you, but I feel better already. In fact, I’m having a hard time remembering a time when I ever felt bad. Wow, this stuff really works! I’m headed to my local pharmacy to get more!

Gabby’s Good Luck Minute

Magic Meathands Original video #6!

Written, directed and edited by Nikki Turner, this video features our newest Meathand, Kathie Bostian. Kevin Callahan plays a sports guru that… well, I don’t want to ruin the ending. There’s also a little bit of me, Shane Boroomand, Mary Benedict, and Lily Gatica. Randy Turner handled the camera with some assist from non-Meathand Scott Hrebek (who also happens to be an ace guitar player).

My character is thinking, “Yup, this white thing is still on the wall. Looks like my job here is done.”

Gotcha

Magic Meathands Original video #5!

Written, directed and edited by Shane Boroomand, with Shane and myself as a pair of wannabe pranksters and Mary Benedict as Prof. Dorfman. Randy Turner on camera.

The car crossing in front was completely unplanned. So whoever that is driving by, great car acting!

Quick reminder: 2 live Magic Meathands shows this weekend!

ManCoaster

Magic Meathands sketch comedy video #4!

Written, directed and edited by Nikki Turner, and starring Shane Boroomand and Travis McElroy, with Mary Benedict and Liz Gill. There’s also a quick appearance by me in the crucial role of the Ticket Taker.

This was the most production heavy of the initial batch of videos we made, complete with green screen and CGI velociraptor with missile launching arms. We had to cut the velociraptor because he kept blowing his lines.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy! We’re having a blast making these for you, and more are in the works. Stay tuned! (Or… stay internetted. Or whatever.)

Pants: A Nightmare

Magic Meathands sketch comedy video #3!

This one has a whole lot of me in it. I wrote it, I co-directed it (with fellow Meathand Kevin Callahan who was a great help in breaking this sucker down so we had a super-efficient shoot), I starred in it, I wrote the music (or as I like to call it, sonic enhancement), I edited it. So there’s me all over. But it would simply not exist at all without the Magic Meathands. The fantastic camera work is by Wendy J.N. Lee (she also provided invaluable technical consulting). I absolutely love the freaky taunting by Shane Boroomand, Lara Sterling, Travis McElroy, Kevin Callahan and Mary Benedict. And of course Nikki Turner as Mom. Getting her costuming to work was way harder than I expected but it came out way better than I expected so it was way worth it. Way.

I hope you enjoy it. If so, please comment, give it thumbs up at YouTube, favorite it, forward it on, and all those other things people do on the Interwebs.

Check back next week for the fourth and final video from our first batch of videos.

And there’s more to come! Yesterday, we shot another batch, and again one of them is written by me. So it’s off to the land of editing with me once again. You’ll probably start seeing the second wave in December or January.

Fun and Games

Magic Meathands video #2!

I acted in this and I also edited it. Wendy Lee did the fancy hand-held camera work.

Also featuring Mary Benedict (writer/director), Nikki Turner and Travis McElroy, also of the Magic Meathands.

This was a lot of fun to be in. My mission: yell and be angry. Bonus points if you can name all of the real games Mary used to create the fictional Calcatron. (I love that name. Sounds like Megatron’s forgotten step-brother.)

Oh and if I ever invite you to game night, I promise it’s not like this. No, really, it’s not!

Eddie the Enforcer

New sketch comedy video with me!

I provided the voice-over and also appear in this mock commercial written and directed by fellow Magic Meathands performer Shane Boroomand.

Also featured are Kevin Callahan, Nikki Turner, and Mary Benedict.

I recorded most of the voice-over in one take with memories of all of those awful “as seen on TV” ads that seemed to infest daytime and late late night. I don’t know, maybe they still do.

Anyway, this is the first of a new series of sketch comedy videos that the Magic Meathands have produced and are producing. I hope you enjoy! We’ve had a blast making them! To make sure you don’t miss any of them, subscribe to either my YouTube page (for ones with me) or the Magic Meathands YouTube page.

Don’t forget: The Magic Meathands are performing at the Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica this Friday!
