Whoops. Dang fangled new electronic equipment.
And Benny Goodman's Band's performance of "Sing, Sing, Sing" was the first record I bought. A single, as they called them then. There was probably another song on the back of what I think was a 78 RPM record. I was taking drum lessons and my drum teacher wanted me to listen to Gene Krupa's mastery of the drums.

When I was a teenager, I memorized most of Belafonte's songs. I planned to be the next Harry Belafonte. But I was lacking the Belafonte bare chest. I saw him perform in Beverly, Mass., (former North Shore Music Theater) sometime in the 1970s or 1980s. He was magical. Like many great entertainers, he could make you feel as if he was really singing for you (even though there were a lot of other people hanging around).
His songs would shift from romantic to gospel to ethnic to whimsical.

No that's you, Dawn! You are the master of getting an audience to groan in delightful agony.

For me, audience groans are best when sprinkled throughout laughter and chaos like the perfect dash of spice.

I can't believe your job doesn't provide vacation time. Isn't that a law or something? But at least you have the weekends for glorious sleep.
I seriously want a vacation so I can do this--->"been an obsessive dork about our music library." And don't get me started about my photos. But, alas, my job does not provide vacation time off, so I just focus on the zzzz's on the weekends. I feel like the z's are the most important thing, really, in the world. When I do take time off, it's always to travel back east, and I never have enough time to "catch up with my stuff". But I always make a point to sleep. Wait, you were asking, weren't you?
