The Day Job Revealed
Even when I’m in a company video, I can’t be normal.
Happy Semi-Belated Holidays!
Here’s how we spent Christmas Eve. I hope you had a great Christmas (if you celebrate it) and are having a wonderful holiday season.

The above was cross-posted on the Magic Meathands blog. I’ve been a member of the Magic Meathands for nearly 3 years, performing well over 100 shows of improvised comedy. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, give yourself a treat and catch one of our shows.
Honest Abe the Babe
Magic Meathands Original video #13!
It’s another sketch comedy video for your entertainment enjoyment!
This one is a preview of a brand new historical TV series that will blow you away with its textbook accuracy while still being entertaining and yes, even sexy! I did the voice over and I also had a scene as General Robert E. Lee that will have historians talking for decades. Also featured in this video is Shane Boroomand, Mary Benedict (also the writer and director), Kathie Bostian and Nikki Turner.
History was never this historical!

Sex Offender runs for Mayor
So this should take care of any political aspirations I might have.
I can’t figure out how to embed Funny or Die videos here so once the Poopdog Entertainment people post it to YouTube, I’ll do a new post embedding it here. I think this is the third video I’ve done with Sam Sero and Poopdog. Mayer for Mayor Part 1 will have a part 2, maybe a part 3, and who knows how many more as the 2012 elections fever ramps up.
This video also features fellow Meathand Seth Rotkin. We had too much fun shooting the scene at the table where he’s coaching me. Not sure if more of that will ever surface in future installments.
Anyway, vote Mayer for Mayor!
Improv Comedy Streaming Right to Your Computer Today at 11 AM Pacific / 2 PM Eastern
The Magic Meathands (with me!) will be performing on the hour-long live web show Tool at FWAwebTV.
The production company Tool of North America is putting the show on, streaming live so that we’ll be able to take your suggestions over the intertubes as if we were performing in person right in front of you. Truly, we are in the future!
The show starts at 11:00 AM Pacific. See you then!
Corey plays 3 people in Kathie Bostian’s video for The X-Ecution
Fellow Magic Meathand Kathie Bostian has been on a long journey competing with other comedic improvisers in an elimination-style show called The X-Ecution, a joint production by The Improv Space and iO West. It all started on March 31st with 24 improvisers. Each week, a contestant has been voted off based on their performance, feedback from a panel of judges, and votes from a live audience. After last Friday’s show, we’re down to the Final 3 and one more show. And the great news is that Kathie is still in the running! The big winner gets $500 and meetings with heads of casting from Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS.
For last week’s show, the Top 4 were each asked to write and produce a 4-minute video starring themselves in a hero’s journey. Kathie not only asked me to be in her video, she asked me to play every male role in the whole dang thing. That ended up being 3 different characters. Other Meathands helped out too. Mary Benedict played the other women characters that weren’t Kathie, and the whole thing was edited by Shane Boroomand. The video played during last week’s show, and I’m told it was a big hit.
Watch it for yourself and let me know what you think:
The final show is this Thursday night, 8 PM, at The Improv Space.
Fun and Games II: The Red Tokens
Magic Meathands Original video #12!
The popular Gamer characters are back for the expanded version of that world-famous board game Calcatron! If you’ve ever played a game with someone that takes it a tad too seriously, you’ll probably relate. But to be fair, the red tokens are a pretty intuitive add-on once you’ve used prime numbers to determine who goes first.
Also, I friggin’ love the screen capture YouTube selected for this one.
Mary Benedict wrote and directed this one, and also played the part of Mary. I play Corey, Nikki Turner played Nikki and Kathie Bostian played Kathie. Pretty tricky character names, huh? Shane Boroomand was the cameraman and editor. Nick DeBenedetto handled sound.
To see Mary’s first attempt at playing a board game with us, check out this video.

Gabby’s Good Luck Minute 3
Magic Meathands Original video #11!
Yes, Part 3! It’s becoming an epic! Don’t worry, no prior viewing is needed to understand this video of Gabby and her ongoing efforts to actually pull off a successful TV show. You’d think her station would stop broadcasting her live.
This sketch comedy video was written and directed by Nikki Turner. It stars Kathie Bostian as Gabby, Shane Boroomand and me as the studio crew (my character survived last episode‘s hostage situation, it turns out), Lara Sterling as the American Idol winner, and Jim Maloy and his daughter Audrey Maloy as the balloon-carrying relatives. (Kevin Callahan, Eric Ho and Matt Lundin appear in flashback. How’s that for a day’s work?)
Speaking of the Magic Meathands, don’t forget we’ve got a live show Saturday night at the The Spot Café in Culver City! 8 PM, $7 for 2 improv comedy groups!

The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour season 1 finale: Office
Look for me in the big season 1 finale of The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour! Warning: there is adult language, so Internet Mom says viewer discretion is advised.
Written by and starring Jeff Lewis (Vork from The Guild) and directed by Sean Becker of Awkward Films. Me as the Intern. Also starring Alex Albrecht (of Diggnation), Jerry Lambert (ABC’s Sons & Daughters, Kevin Butler from Sony’s PlayStation 3 ad campaign), Ed Marques, Ted Michaels (Puppet Up!), Tara Perry (The Movie Maven) and Robin Thorsen (Clara on The Guild).
This was such fun to shoot. There’s a longer take of me fumbling around with the water for what seemed like 5 minutes. If they used it, they would’ve had to change the title of the show. Check out the rest of the season, the show is hilarious. Make sure to post lots of comments about how amazing I am but don’t make it too obvious. Just play it cool. And definitely don’t mention that I told you to do that. Then it would be really awkward.
Corey Blake does things on the Internet, and sometimes even in person.
